Top tips to make sure an agency finds you a job, efficiently. Remember to deal with obstacles as they come, tying to turn them to your advantage
- Choose the right recruitment agency. Always do a bit of research before choosing and ask around for advice.
- Look for preferred agencies. If you have a particular company you wish to work for in mind, look up their recruitment suppliers. Many companies have a small number of preferred agencies.
- CV advice. Pass around your CV. A way in which many agencies get a hold on CVs is via some CV distribution channels, mainly websites. They send out summaries to many recruitment agencies and later they can request your full details.
- Make sure your CV is clear. Many agencies rely heavily on a CV in order to select candidates. Make sure your CV is impeccable, concise, and gives a clear image of your skills and qualifications. Also, when selected, make sure you ask a lot of questions regarding the job and its requirements. You might end up with a job you don't want.
- Make inquiries about the job. Prepare before you go to the interview and make sure you're up for the right job. Many agencies provide a summary of the job requirements but that may not be enough. So don't be shy to ask questions in order to have the right information.
- Have confidence in yourself. You should always trust yourself and be firm on your rate. You are a skilled professional and many companies would like to employ you. So always make sure you get what you want. Many companies offer a higher rate for someone they really want.
- Communication problems. The agencies have trouble with the way some contractors communicate, as they tend to be very straight-forward people, wanting to get the job done quickly and efficiently. At the same time, the contractors are confused by the sales talk agents, creating confusion and some disturbing perceptions.
- Work Directly. With a large number of Internet resources, you can now find the job you want without using an agency and paying for it.
- Always communicate. When you find a job make sure you tell the agencies as quickly as possible. This will avoid some awkward situations and cut the number of calls received.
