Travelling by plane may not be as easy at it seems since we are not designed to fly. Follow some basic rules to make sure your holiday starts well.

  1. Wear lose and warm clothes. Choose lose and warm clothes for your trip. Tight clothes will make you feel uncomfortable, especially after a meal. Also, you may be cold during the flight, even with the blankets they provide. You can carry some warm clothes in your hand bag.
  2. Have light meals. You can easily get tempted by the food available on board, but you should choose light meals to avoid any gastric problems.
  3. Drink water. If you feel thirsty don't hesitate to ask for a glass of water, some juice or tea. Otherwise you can become dehydrated. Avoid alcohol. It may quench your thirst for the moment, but will make you even more dehydrated. Drinking more water than usual can make you go to the toilet more often.
  4. Bring some moisturizing cream and some lip gel. Some people experience dryness of skin and lips while flying. It would be a good idea to have some cream and lip balm in your hand bag.
  5. Bring some entertainment. Pack some books, magazines or an mp3 player if you are traveling alone and some playing cards if you have company. You can also bring a snack.
  6. Book an aisle seat for children. If you are traveling with children, you should book aisle seats for them to avoid disturbing people seating next to you. Children get bored very fast and cannot stay seated for hours. They also need to go to the toilet quite often.
  7. Remember that you are on a plane, not in your personal car. Security measures should be taken: pay attention to the evacuation procedure shown by the flight attendant, locate the emergency exits and the life jackets.
