Spain has always been the favorite holiday destination for British tourists. There's always a fiesta somewhere, with plenty of wine and sangria. Follow these tips to get the best available flight for the lowest price.
- Book as early as possible
- Book well in advance. Plus, if you wait until the last minute you may not find any available seats.
- Choose non-peak days
- If possible try flying in less popular days. Usually, business people travel on Monday and Friday, while those who go on holiday prefer weekends. Also, weekend flights are more expensive. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are cheaper and less crowded, which makes them perfect for flights.
- Choose non-peak periods
- Certain dates (usually around the holidays) are more popular for traveling to Spain, thus more expensive. If possible, try to avoid the Wednesday before Easter, December 23 and 26, January 2.
- Don't stay more than a month. If your holiday in Spain is longer than 30 days but shorter than 60 days, you can spend 10-15% more on your flight. If you stay there between 60 an 90 days you have to spend 30-40% more.
- Avoid major airports. Choose smaller, less popular Spanish airports. You'll have access to a range of small carriers that tend to use alternate airports. Also, you'll find more availability on major companies.
- Check the fare comparison web sites. Fare comparison sites compare prices shown on other web sites (travel agencies, low cost carriers) to help you choose the best deal and save time. You can also check with some discount airfare providers that negotiate special offers.
